Wabi-sabi. Imperfection and emptiness: modern Japanese architecture
Modern Japanese architecture, especially from the postwar period onwards, has undergone considerable development and profound originality. Spirit and characteristics of tradition are combined with modern needs and ideas, thus giving life to a new and unique style.
Among all Japanese architects, Tange Kenzo can be considered the true father of the birth of an unmistakable artistic expression that combines classical Japanese architecture with modern Western forms and materials.
Proof of the success of Japanese contemporary architecture is that, starting from the late 1960s, numerous projects outside of Japan, including in Italy, have been entrusted to Japanese architects.
In this regard, the meeting will end with a roundup of architectural works by Japanese architects in Italy.
With the patronage of the Consulate General of Japan in Milan
