“Sunday 6 May 1945, at 10.35 am, my father, nickname Bepi, my uncle Vladimiro and the lieutenant of the Alpini Stelio Luconi gold medal for military valor in Russia discover that they have won the Second World War.
When my father died, I woke up abruptly, the way you wake up after a party where you weren’t enjoying yourself and you even drank the perfume in the bathroom. It’s morning, you wake up feeling bad, but the worst is that you don’t remember anything and there’s a mess to clean up. And your dad, who was good at tidying up, is gone. Thus ended my fabulous 90s. The end of a party, the birth of a new awareness.
Like Telemachus, but older and overweight, I set out in search of my father and his story as a partisan, and prisoner, but even more his Odyssey back to an Italy devastated by war. Hoping to find a teaching on how to make things right.”
Accompanied by the musicians Giorgio Gobbo and Gianluca Segato, Andrea Pennacchi brings himself on stage, recounts his journey as a son in search of his father, to whom he is forced to say goodbye in silence, his story and the vicissitudes on his return to a War-ravaged Italy.
