In 2018, on the occasion of the one hundred and fifty years since the death of Gioachino Rossini, Monica Casadei decided to tackle one of the most famous titles by the Pesaro master, The Barber of Seville.
A show that he imagined as a futuristic “action ballet”. But who is really Figaro? In Monica Casadei’s reading Figaro is the prototype of the successful man in today’s world. Sheathed in rigorous managerial clothes, Rossini’s hero becomes the emblem of those who manage to satisfy the expectations of a company with vivacity and savoir faire that imposes every day to achieve its goals, optimizing time and resources. The result is an action performance, characterized by an atmosphere suspended between a past-shadow and a flashing and frenetic present. On a choreographic level, the character of Figaro multiplies in the bodies of the entire company and involves them in a contamination of creative languages.
