Construction of the Sanctuary began in 1634 in thanks by the people of Fiorano for salvation from the Plague.
Its architectural design is by Bartolomeo Avanzini. The Sanctuary’s creation was inspired by the miraculous survival, in a whole series of calamities, of the image of the Madonna, originally painted on the arch of the main doorway.
The original design of the interior was radically modified by work carried out in 1932, while the exterior was only finally completed in 1889.
The Sanctuary is in Baroque style with a Greek cross layout.
