April 20, 1945: it is a clear and bright afternoon of an important spring. We are near the Pieve di Trebbio, an ancient Romanesque church from the 11th century, overlooking the bold geological architecture of the Sassi di Roccamalatina, a few kilometers south of Vignola (Modena). An aircraft crashes… witnesses see a man of small stature, with a boy’s face and delicate hands, very different from those of those who, every day, in peace or war, cultivate the fields! The personal plate is kept in a pocket of the suit: 1st/lt. Robert G. Thompson serial number 02057052.
